Junot Diaz, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is a satiric novel whose main focus is on a young boy named Oscar wao. Oscar was like a jock but in pre-school just because he was Dominican, he had it all the popularity, getting the ladies, and got things to go his way. But later Oscar tends to face self esteem problems as he was in a relationship with two girls at once and then later the relationship he had with those girls faded away. He started to become one of those gamers who would stay inside all the time, gain weight, play games just to get over their depression, and lost his touch with the ladies, and thought that being a nice guy would get him a girlfriend. After this whole scene Oscar goes to college at Rutgers where he meets a girl and falls in love with her, he thought she was his everything all that he ever wanted, this boosted his self esteem and she made him wanting himself to be a better person, so he felt the need to change his physical appearance, his attitude and how he acts. But then all that came to an end as the girl he loved was slipping away into another guy arms. At this point Oscar is the type of character that falls easily for any type of girl that he meets, so he is gullible and get hurts from being too nice of a guy and always giving it his all, but is really persistent and always get back up! Later on as Oscar meets another girl he grew the courage to stand up to anything, thus him changing his character from a little weak person that was always in the background and now man like.
